Academic advisement is an essential element in your academic and student development experience at the John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations. Your relationship with your adviser will enable you to explore the variety of options available to you in the field and identify a niche that best fits your interest, be it international or nongovernmental organizations, law, economics, the private or public sector. Through mentorship and guidance, your adviser can assist you in developing a plan of study that will best prepare you to achieve success while at Seton Hall and prepare for the many opportunities that await you upon graduation.
Administrators and faculty both serve as academic advisers to undergraduate and graduate students at the School. Undergraduate students with questions regarding academic advisement should contact Chris Kaiser, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Students at kaiserch@shu.edu. Graduate students with similar questions should contact Ursula Sanjamino, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies at sanjamur@shu.edu. Graduate students pursuing joint degrees are dually advised and should check with the Chair of their second degree program for further information.
Shared Responsibility
The advisement relationship is one that you and your adviser share.
As your adviser is responsible for imparting accurate information on
degree requirements, you as a student bear an equal level of
responsibility for acquiring this knowledge. Familiarize yourself
with the college catalog, student handbook, Whitehead School
curriculum guide, and other important sources that explain the
academic policies and procedures that will assist you in
successfully reaching your goals.
